The Maine Elks Association Youth Activities Committee has established a new program for youth's between the ages of 12 and 21 that will soon be implemented in Lodges across the State of Maine. This program is called the "Antler's" program. It's purpose is to:

  • Quicken the spirit of Americanism;
  • To teach respect for parents, and love of home;
  • To inculcate the fundementals of good citizenship
  • To aid in a worthy cause
  • To establish foundation of character
  • To promote the welfare and enhance the happiness of its members
  • And to respect the conviction of others in the matters of worship and religion

The program originated in the 1930's, but has been recently re-vitalized to encourage youngsters to join an organization that believes in America.

Each Antler's Lodge will operate on its own, but will be supervised by its sponsoring Elks Lodge. The Antler's will elect their own officers, and members will work to develop programs and activities that support charitable and community service projects.

To qualify for membership, youngsters must be between the ages of 12 and 21, be a United States citizen, be of good character, and believe in the existence of God. In addition, their Antler's Lodge must be sponsored by a current Elks Lodge.

For more information on the Antler's program, contact MEA Youth Activities Director, Alfred "Chipper" Widdecombe at 207-593-9102.
