Exalted Ruler's Message

 Happy New Year!

The Lodge had many holiday events in December and I would like to thank everyone who helped out to make these events fun and successful. I would also like to thank all those who attended and added to the fun.   I would like to extend a big thank you to Santa and Mrs. Claus for making a stop at the lodge and for bringing gifts to all of the children.

The roof has been completed and now we are working on arrangements to finish the ceiling in the hall. Pizza night in January will be on the 20th starting at 6 p.m. We are hoping to have more musical entertainment to go with your pizza in the form of karaoke. I hope to see all those who can sing or just like to sing there.

Texas Hold 'em will be going back to Saturday nights starting Jan. 28 at 5 p.m.

Karen Staples, Exalted Ruler

Vacant Offices: Inner Guard, Chaplain, Trustee

We are in need of people to step forward to fill these important positions. The Inner Guard position and Chaplain position are for the most part ceremonial, and have small duties during the Lodge meetings and funeral services. The Grand Lodge no longer requires memorization of the ritual parts. This change came at the Grand  Lodge session in July.

The Trustee position that is open is for a 3 year term. The responsibilities of a Trustee would be to attend the  Trustee meetings (Building Operations), Governing Body Meetings (Bar Operations) and Lodge Meetings. The Trustees are responsible for overseeing the finances and maintenance of the Lodge. This is an important position, and we could use your help. If you have been involved in running a business, or understand finances, or are even willing to learn, please consider helping the Lodge by filling this office.

The Lodge officers are short handed. Please consider volunteering your time to help out the Lodge by taking on one of these positions.

From the Secretary's Desk

This year, we have managed to whittle down the delinquent member list considerably, with only 16 members remaining to pay their dues for the year. We started the year with 286, we've gained 20 members, but have lost 13, giving us a current net gain of 7 for the year.

Our goal this year would be to have a gain of at least 1 member by March 31st. That means, that if there is no change in the delinquent list (16), and if no one passed away over the next 3 months, we would need to bring in an additional 9 members. Currently we have 7 in process, but it is likely that two of them have changed their minds and will not be joining, leaving us with 5. Subtracting the 5 applications from the 9 we needed, that means we only need an additional 5 new members to join the Lodge this year to get a plus one for the year. Other options would be to reinstate members who have dropped out, or to get some of those on the delinquent list to pay their dues for the year.

Is it possible for us to have a gain in membership in these trying times? Absolutely!!! We have three months to go in the Lodge year, which ends on March 31. I would encourage all of our members to get involved and try to bring in either new members, reinstate old members, or look at the delinquent list and if you know any of them, to see if you can contact them to encourage them to remain as members. To get five more by March is not difficult. All you have to do is get involved by talking to your family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc. Please help us to meet this challenge. A gain in membership will be beneficial to a Lodge that is struggling, as with new people comes enthusiasm and new ideas.

May you all have a Happy, Safe, and Prosperous New Year!

Fraternally,

Wayne Cotterly, PDDGER, State President, Secretary
