Benefit Dinner & Auction Planned for PER Glenn Leavitt

From Jim York, Waterville Elks

To the members of the Maine Elks,

As most of you know Glenn Leavitt PER of Waterville Lode 905 had a major stroke a few months back. He is coming back slow but he IS coming back.

Glenn was the only income for the household and now his wife Cindy can’t leave his side to get a job, he needs round the clock care. Luckily Glenn has disability insurance but it doesn’t cover all the costs of living “they go thru 100 gallons of oil every 2 weeks.” So his employer (Clear Channel Radio) came to us to see if they could put on a benefit dance & auction at the Lodge. We were happy to help them out by having a sock hop with Don Brown & Ryan Cote as DJ’s “they are professional DJ’s at WTOS” and a live auction on Feb. 9th from 8pm to midnight. The cost is only $10.00 per couple.

So if you can come please do, if you can’t try to send something to the lodge for the auction or just a donation to help us help a fellow Elk. We not only are trying to help Glenn with bills, we are also trying to remodel his bathroom so his wheelchair can fit in. We are hoping to raise $5,000 to $6,000.00 that night.

Can you imagine not being able to use the bathroom or shower in your own home? I feel that with the public support and the help of the Lodges in the state on Maine we can give Glenn back some dignity.

If you don’t know Glenn just ask one of the members that have gone to state meetings for years and ask just what kind of Elk Glenn is.

Thank You for your time

Jim York, PER –Waterville 905
