Sanford Elks Ride For MCCP

The Sanford Elks lodge #1470 held its annual Motorcycle Poker Run to benefit the Maine Children’s Cancer Program on June 6 with 146 registered participants.  One hundred and thirty motorcycles and sixteen cars made up the group that left the lodge on a beautiful sunny Saturday morning.  The run traveled thru parts of NH working it’s way to the Rochester Elks lodge where the riders were received by their exalted ruler and a light luncheon was put on by the Rochester Elks.  The group then proceeded back to the Sanford lodge for a BBQ.  The Sanford Elks MCCP committee put on a great run for all participants and was able to raise $6734.00 for the Maine Children's Cancer Program.  Many thanks go out to Chris Roux, a MCCP committee member, and his crew for organizing this event.

Portland Elks Lodge Awards Scholarship

Anissa Khadraoui, a 2009 graduate of Waynflete High School in Portland was one of the Portland Lodge’s $1000 scholarship winners.  Anissa received her check at the June 22nd Lodge meeting.  Our other scholarship recipient was Hilary Perry of Westbrook High School.  Hilary received her $1000 check at an awards ceremony at the high school.  Debby Hamblen represented the Portland Lodge and presented the check.  Anissa will be attending Brown University in September and Hilary will be attending Colby College.
