On
Saturday June 2nd the Sanford Lodge held its 3rd annual MCCP Poker Run. It was a
beautiful day for a ride and for fundraising. We had approximately 60
participants that met at the Lodge for Breakfast and then took the route Through
Wolfeboro and Alton bay in New Hampshire before returning to the Sanford Lodge
to see who had the best hand and door prizes. The Poke Run raised approximately
$5,000 for the day. Great job riders and committee members!!!

Maine Elks
Association Website: 5-Star Website
Now in its fourth
year, the Maine Elks Association Website has been declared a Five Star Website
by the Elks Grand Lodge State Associations/Lodge Activities Committee. For the
past two years, the Maine Elks website, under the direction of MEA Public
Relations Director Wayne Cotterly has been working on improving the layout and
content of the site to better serve the membership, as well as provide
information to the public about the Elks. The site had received a Four Star
Rating for the past two years, but this year, the website received the coveted
Five Star ranking by Grand Lodge, the highest ranking for State Association
Websites.
Only Seven State Association’s have earned this title,
including: Colorado, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New Mexico, Tennessee,
Virginia, and Maine. A total of 21 States participated in the contest. The
contest committee evaluated the websites for content, layout, design, graphics,
and their effectiveness in telling the Elks story.
Starting next year,
the State Associations/Lodge Activities Committee will be holding a Website
Contest for Subordinate Lodges, in addition to the State Association Contest.
