Indoctrination: Start Building A Relationship
From the GL Newsletter

First impressions last a lifetime. How does your lodge conduct its indoctrination program? What kind of first impression is given? Does the lodge properly prepare the candidate for membership? The Order is working diligently to reverse the trend of membership loss. The first step, give a more comprehensive overview of the Order. The program should be concise, to the point, cover all points of interest and be entertaining. The indoctrination program should contain, but not be limited to:

A. Elks National Foundation
B
. State Major Project
C
. State Association Programs
D
. Grand Lodge Programs
E
. Local Lodge Activities, Charities
F
. Lodge/Grand Lodge incentives
G
. Volunteering, do not be bashful

Many members join the Order for the social aspect, not knowing what all Elkdom has to offer. During indoctrination, we all must do a better job of informing the candidate in what being an Elk stands for. By following the above guidelines and being as comprehensive as possible, we can begin the

change that will lead to:

Better Understanding = Better Knowledge = Better Members = Active Members
