Maine Elks Association Newsbriefs

Request for Donations
From Greg Ruby Sr., Augusta Elks Lodge

This request is for monetary donations toward the Daniel Kelly Stronghold Retreat: It would be nice if we had words to take away the pain that comes with cancer, but we all know that isn’t possible. We do however have the ability to ease the pain if only for a moment by offering a wonderfully furnished, heated retreat for these families to utilize in their time of need.

Through the generosity and caring of the Kelly family and so many others and in conjunction with the Maine Elk’s Association there is now a place for families affected by cancer to recuperate, rest and get away from the daily ordeals that this terrible disease brings with it.

With your monetary donations we can make this retreat available for 50 weeks a year at no cost to the families who use it. Any family dealing with cancer is eligible to put their name in for use of the retreat free of charge
Arrangements are being made for any Elks Lodge members or interested persons to visit the retreat Saturday morning, January 5, 2008

Please visit http://www.danielkellystronghold.comto see the retreat for yourself.

We hope to raise enough money through donations for fuel and maintenance of the retreat for comfort and safety of the visitors. Any amount you are able to offer is greatly appreciated and goes 100% to the Daniel Kelly Stronghold Retreat. But remember, you do not have to be a member of the Elk’s family this wonderful retreat; you just have to be a family in need who has cancer.

Donations can be sent to:
